Thomas C. Bowen serves as Senior Public Affairs Advisor to Mac Strategies Group expanding its strategic communications and public affairs practice from City Hall to the White House. In this capacity, Tom provides expertise to the firm’s clients on strategic communications, issue management, coalition development and grassroots campaign execution. After serving as deputy campaign manager for Rahm Emanuel’s successful 2011 bid to become Chicago’s first new mayor in 22 years, Bowen established Mayor Emanuel’s leadership PAC, The Chicago Committee, as well as a political consulting practice, New Chicago Consulting, LLC.

Tom boasts an impressive political background having managed two successful special congressional elections as well as Forrest Claypool’s independent bid for Cook County assessor. He also held a leadership role in former Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias’ highly-watched attempt for the U.S. Senate seat to replace President Obama in 2010. In total, he has managed six political campaigns ranging from Chicago City Council to U.S. Senate and has consulted on more than seventy-five races across the country, including the 2008 presidential campaign of then Sen. Barack Obama. An expert in project management, communications, research and grassroots organizing, Tom's breadth of experience in Democratic politics is unmatched. He can frequently be seen providing commentary as an expert source on political issues for Chicago-based and national news organizations.

Bowen launched his career in politics as a press aide to then State Senator Barack Obama working under communications director Robert Gibbs. He previously worked in Washington, D.C. as a staff assistant to Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and as a reporter for the National Journal working under Senior Hotline Editor Chuck Todd.

Tom Bowen earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Illinois Wesleyan University and currently lives in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago with his wife Aviva and their daughter Charlotte.
